On what the platform does. GetSourceDirect publishes listings and routes inquiries. It does not process payments, hold buyer funds, arrange shipping or adjudicate disputes, and a reviewed profile is not a certification or an audit. See sourcing safety for where the line falls.
The Challenge of Reaching Global Buyers
A business that manufactures outside its own country's main export markets often finds
that reaching international buyers involves:
- Trade fairs, which cost money to attend and only work while you are there.
- Agents and trading intermediaries, who in exchange for market access typically take a commission on what they sell.
- Direct outreach, which depends on the buyer happening to need what you make.
- Time, because export relationships are usually built over years rather than weeks.
None of those routes are wrong, and many businesses use them successfully. The
limitation is that they all depend on someone in the middle, or on being in the right
place at the right time. A published listing is a route that does not require either.
What the GetSourceDirect Model Is
GetSourceDirect is a listing and contact layer, not a reseller.
The free plan includes:
- Up to 3 product or service listings
- A public business profile
- Buyer inquiries sent through the platform
- A 10% seller success commission on a completed sale, under our commercial policy
On commission, precisely: buyers pay a 0% GetSourceDirect platform commission, and sellers
pay a 10% success commission on a completed sale. No commission of any kind is currently
collected, because GetSourceDirect does not process payments at all yet — there is no integrated
payment provider and no subscription billing. Because payment is settled directly between buyer
and seller, we cannot currently observe whether an off-platform sale completed, so this is a
policy we will apply when in-platform payment processing launches rather than a charge we can
calculate or invoice today. If that changes, the terms will be published before any charge is taken.
On what the free plan does not include: it does not include a guaranteed number of
enquiries, a minimum order volume, or a place in a buyer's shortlist. Buyers choose which
businesses to contact, and the platform cannot make that choice for them.
How to Set Up Your Business Profile
Step 1: Register
Go to GetSourceDirect and create your business account. Takes 2 minutes. No credit card required.
Step 2: Complete your profile
Add your business details, manufacturing capabilities, countries you ship to, and a clear description of what you produce.
Step 3: List your products
Upload photos, set your factory price, and specify shipping costs by country. You control your pricing completely.
Step 4: Complete review
Your business registration and profile are checked before your profile and listings are
approved. There is also an optional paid verified badge review, which applies the same
check. Neither the review nor the badge is a certification, an audit or a factory
inspection, and neither changes where your listing appears — search ordering does not
read the badge or your plan. Treat the badge as a signal that we looked at the
registration, not as a quality rating.
Step 5: Receive orders
Buyers find your listing and contact you directly. Payment terms are agreed and settled between you and the buyer; GetSourceDirect does not hold funds.
What Makes a Listing Easy to Act On
These are general observations about how buyers evaluate a supplier, not statistics
drawn from platform data — the platform does not publish conversion or traffic figures,
because there are none to publish yet.
Photos: Images of the actual product and, where possible, the production process.
Stock imagery does not tell a buyer what you make.
Pricing clarity: State the unit price, currency and minimum order quantity
accurately. A buyer who discovers a different figure later will not continue.
Shipping information: Say which countries you will ship to and what the freight
basis is. Do not state delivery times you cannot control — freight varies by destination
and carrier.
Specification detail: Material, dimensions, tolerances and packaging. This is the
most common reason a buyer has to ask a second question before they can quote.
A reachable contact route: If you publish a WhatsApp number, keep it current,
because that is the channel many buyers use. The platform makes no promise about how
quickly any given business replies, and neither should a listing.
Which Businesses Succeed on GetSourceDirect
The platform works best for:
- Manufacturers with proven products they already produce
- Service providers offering specialised skills (software development, design, manufacturing consulting)
- Artisans producing handcrafted goods
