BuyersRFQ

Request for quotation (RFQ)

Request a quote directly from manufacturers and wholesale suppliers. Send your quantity and requirements from any product listing, and the seller quotes you directly — free for buyers, with no commission added to the price.

How to send an RFQ on GetSourceDirect

  1. Find the product

Search wholesale products or browse a category and open the listing closest to what you need.

  2. Write your RFQ

Click “Request quote” and give the quantity, specification, packaging and destination — the checklist below covers it.

  3. It goes to the seller

Your request is sent to that manufacturer or supplier, who quotes against your requirements.

  4. Compare and negotiate

Replies come to you directly. Send RFQs to several suppliers and compare their quotations like for like.

RFQ checklist: what to include

A complete request gets an accurate quotation the first time. Copy this into your RFQ:

  • Product name, model or a link to the listing
  • Quantity per order and expected annual volume
  • Specification: materials, dimensions, colours, finish, tolerances
  • Branding: your logo, custom packaging, OEM or private label
  • Required certificates or standards (e.g. CE, FDA, REACH)
  • Packaging and labelling requirements
  • Destination country and preferred trade term (EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP)
  • Target delivery date and whether you need samples first
  • Payment terms you can offer

Getting better quotations

What is a request for quotation?

An RFQ is a document or message asking a supplier to price a specific product, quantity and set of terms. Unlike a general inquiry, it gives the supplier everything needed to return a firm unit price and lead time.

RFQ vs RFP vs RFI

An RFI (request for information) asks what a supplier can do; an RFQ asks what it will cost for a defined specification; an RFP (request for proposal) asks the supplier to propose a solution. For buying products, the RFQ is the step that produces prices you can compare.

Comparing supplier quotations

Check that every quote uses the same quantity, specification and trade term (EXW, FOB or delivered). Compare unit price, MOQ, tooling or sample fees, lead time and payment terms — the lowest unit price is not always the lowest landed cost.

Who receives your RFQ

Your request goes to the seller of the product you quote, and they reply to you directly. To compare offers, send the same RFQ to several manufacturers and suppliers, or to OEM and private label manufacturers for branded products.
